Requirements from Homeowner
As much as possible, re-HOME asks the customer to provide the following:
- 6 to 12 months of past energy bills: gas, electric, and water
- Booklets/written information for HVAC system (heating and cooling), water heater, and appliances (refrigerator, freezer, washer, dryer, etc.)
- Access to a ladder
- Access to attic and crawlspaces if applicable
- Access to roof
Additional Services
- re-HOME partners with other local businesses whose services include ongoing preventative maintenance services and project planning for home systems. Some of the these businesses offer year-long service contracts for a variety of maintenance tasks. Home owners receive a report customized for their property, can pick maintenance upkeep options from a menu, and pay a low monthly fee.
re-HOME Home Energy Consultation Expectations
- re-HOME does not perform HERS audits (which include a blower door test, a duct leakage test) nor other highly technical testing such as that using infrared cameras. Those who need HERS ratings for such things as an Energy Efficient Mortgage should contact a HERS Rater.
- re-HOME's consultation can be thought of as a high-quality, financially-focused, less technically intensive, and lower-cost cousin to the HERS audit. re-HOME's consultation is geared to assist as a decision support tool, helping the owner determine which upgrades will maximize their return on investment and acceptable payback periods.
- re-HOME's estimates of energy savings are just that -- estimates based on research, real-world experience, and calculations that will be made available to you at your request. re-HOME cannot guarantee a specific level of energy savings.
